What are the runes?

The word “rune” according to Webster’s 3rd New Dictionary means “to whisper” or “a secret discussion.” Historically, the runes have given people secret or hidden meaning or information that is contained in the symbols and their positions. The runes were the original alphabet of the Vikings and are considered to have connections to their gods.

How are The Runes of the Four Realms different from the original Viking runes?

Unlike, the traditional runes, The Runes of the Four Realms have 27 distinct symbols are based on our contemporary experiences. They form a grid of energy for our understanding using with the “Elements – the forces of Nature we are all connected to” - Earth, Air, Fire, Water and our Co-Creative Abilities and the “Realms - our connection to Spirit and the Divine” - Great Spirit, the Angels of Light, the Devas and our own Human Awareness. (One rune came forth from the original set, Lightning, which continues to represent sudden change.) Below is a diagram showing this grid of energy and understanding.

How do you use them?

In my use of the traditional runes, I would receive different types of information including insights relative to the question asked and then which god or energy can be tapped into to move forward. I love doing a “Daily Rune” can be done quickly and first thing in the morning or if you have a quick question and want immediate clarity they can give you some immediate insights. The other way to use them is for in depth readings using three or more runes. One of the traditional spreads for a person to do is the “Three Rune Spread” where a person “casts” or picks three runes to divine or bring to light your intuition and the possible direction or answer to your question. The runes are then “read” by their position in the spread, the actual rune and how it is placed.

This spread shows the past circumstances leading up to the present situation and then the anticipated outcome if nothing is done to align the energies into their optimal functioning.

Insightful Runes Spread - Option 2

In this spread the first rune represents you and how you have influenced the present relative to you’re your question and the potential outcome. Again, you can use these insights to optimize the outcome and the best ways to impact it.
